ANDERSON, Ind. — James B. Gerkin, 62, Anderson,
passed away Oct. 4, 2010, at his residence.
He was born March 23, 1948, in Anderson, and resided in Anderson all of his
life. James was a graduate of Madison Heights High School.
He served his country in the National Guard.
James retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 30 years of
service.
He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Anderson Emergency Management.
He loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Brenda (Smith) Gerkin; children, Robin
Smith (Steven) of Lapel, Shawn Gerkin of Winona Lake, Bryan Riddle of
Indianapolis, and Amy Bryant (Michael) of Somerset, Ky.; grandchildren, Ashley
Nalin, Kurtis Rose, Stephanie Kelly, Brittany Lawler, Caleb Bryant, Alea Bryant,
Jaden Bryant, Alexis Gerkin, Jamie Gerkin, Jessica Gerkin, Jeffery Jeanor and
Avery Riddle; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special
friend, Spencer Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmit and Margaret (Runyon) Gerkin;
sister, Sandy Gerkin; and granddaughter, Allyson Paige Gerkin.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home &
Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis
Zirkle officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Feed the Children.
