PENDLETON, Ind. — William L.
“Bill” Jenkins Jr., 64, of Pendleton, passed away Jan. 25, 2013, at his
residence after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 19, 1948, in Indianapolis. He was a graduate of Madison Heights
High School and Vincennes University and received his PhD from Ball State in
archaeology.
Bill retired in 1998 from Guide Lamp after 20 years of employment and was the
founder of the first Teen Republican Club in Madison County.
He was a member of Sons of American Revolution and The Civil War Association and
was a Civil War re-enactor. He was also a member of the Madison County
Historical Society, Model Railroad Club and Fall Creek Meeting House.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Jenkins of Fort Myers, Fla.; brother, John
(wife, Joey) Jenkins of Noblesville; nieces and nephews, Kari Kirk, Kory
Jenkins, Sara Jenkins, Kregg Jenkins and Sarah Jenkins; and 10 great-nieces and
great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Jenkins.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral
Home. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery in Pendleton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
